Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer (1922–2021) & August Fischer (1923–2019)

Foundress and initial president of the CKI Creativ-Kreis-International

Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer, daughter of a goldsmith, was fascinated by the material enamel. In order to promote enamel art and to support the amicable bonds between artists, she and her husband August founded an artists’ circle in the 1960’s and from this the CKI Creativ-Kreis-International in 1979. She was not only foundress, but also president, 1st chairwoman of the CKI for many years.

In the 1990’s she initiated the Enamel-Museum “Alte Mühle” Himmerod with own art studio, which was opened in 1998 with the participation of many artists from Germany and abroad.

She cultivated her many international friendships intensively and used them for contacts and exhibitions of the CKI in many countries, such as Italy, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Hungary, but also Israel, Greece, Japan, USA and especially Russia (St. Petersburg, Yaroslavl, …). The association owes to her numerous ties of friendship all over the world.

Furthermore, she left a large collection of enamel artworks which can be seen in various museums and institutions: Enamel-Museum “Alte Mühle” in Himmerod, Foundation “Ritter von Böhl” in Deidesheim, Enamel-Museum “ArTchivio” in Ponte San Pietro / Italy, …

Her art focuses on mandalas in Cloisonné technique with a variety of references and symbols. Her husband August was significantly involved in the practical elaboration of her artworks.

In 2021, Gertrud Rittmann-Fischer died at the age of 99, about two years after her husband August Fischer.
